System:
OS- Windows Vista 64 bit
Memory-4gb
CPU-2.4 Dual Core Intel Pentium
Antivirus Apps- Avira, (Had) Malware bytes, CCleaner
Ran AVG for a year but found it had leached onto my registry and had to remove it a few weeks ago and replaced it with Avira antivir and malware bytes.

So had this computer for about a year and the main things I do is play games such as WoW, BF2 CoD4 and others using steam. About a few weeks ago I had a malware problem and couldn't find the cause myself and handed it over to a friend to take a look. He found the problem was with AVG leaching into my registry preventing me from booting so had that removed and was replaced with Avira Anitvirus. Though I am still using the system for games such as World of warcraft, BF2 and a few steam runned games as like TF2, and Civ4, I had still encounter problems. The problems all result in me having to hold the power button down to reset which occurred from A) Running one of my other steam games (Garrysmod, Oblivion or L4D2) and they had froze at one point, usually early and disallowed me to use ctrl+alt+delete. Same thing occurs when I run a virus scan with Avg(in the past) avira, and malware bytes to find the problem but ends up freezing at *c drive....gmod/addon/ and then a prop(usually something with curve at the end). But it wasn't always the same exact item but it was almost nearly freezing up in the gmod folder during the scan.

As I said, the computer only freezes when running a game that constantly has been freezing since my first I received my computer back from the first incident, or when I run a virus scan, other than that it has worked fine. But seeing how I have paid for those games I would like to get my system back to 100% and be able to play with no problems occurring.

Would greatly appreciate some help or ideas that could find a solution to my problem.

Thanks,
David
