Hi,

My internal microphone, which has previously worked, no longer seems to be responding/working eg. when attempting to Skype & also when I have tested it out using Accessories/sound recording option it doesn't seem to record anything. This is for a Toshiba Satellite A500 running on Windows Vista. I have looked at the settings but it says everything is working fine. I don't really know what the next step would be?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link. I had a look and also at some of the other threads in the Toshiba forum but they seem mainly to deal with issues that people have after installing Windows 7, which I haven't done. However, I did have another look in Control Panel/Sound/Recording as it said in the link but I don't have two devices listed under Recording, it only has one Microphone in there - Realtek High Definition Audio and it states that the device is 'working'?

Delete/Uninstall it in Device Manager and then reboot?

(Windows will run through its "Found New Hardware" routine when booting and reinstall/resetup the device).

Suggestion for you to try;go to speech recognition under control panel
(on start menu) on the very bottom left you'll see "audio devices" click that,
click the recording tab, now right click and choose show disabled devices,
click onto that then click properties at the bottom right and enable at the
bottom of the properties screen.
Hope this gets you sorted.
