i would like to know how to get the same ip address for my laptop when i connect the ethernet cable of my computer meaning that i play warcraft III hosting games and my desktop has 192.168.1.2
so when i unplugg the ethernet cable and connect right to my laptop my IP changes to 192.168.1.4 so i need to find out a way to get both computers the same ip so i can host games on any of those two computers.
thank u!

Each device on a network must have a unique IP address.

Think of an IP address like a phone number. If two people, (say Tom in Tallahasse and Pedro in Phoenix), both had exactly the same phone number, when you dial their same phone number how would the phone company know which person you want to talk to?

It's the same with IP addresses. Each device needs a unique IP address so that the router(s) know where to direct the traffic.

Spot on and great analogy! :) :)
