hi,

my hp psc 1317 stopped working either last time my computer had a bug, or when i installed internet explorer version 8.
I do not have a software rom, do you have any suggestions or will i have to abandon the printer and buy a new one.

I can't promise it will fix your problem but you can download the printer driver and other related software direct from HP's website:
http://h10025.www1.h...n&cc=us&y=9&x=7

PS - you posted in the wrong forum. A printer is not an 'Application'. It belongs in 'Hardware, Components & Peripherals'.

ya, that certainly helps. I have downloaded HP Officejet and PSC Basic Software and Driver
2009-09-12 , Version:4.2.1, 36.89M.

Printer appears to be working (i.e makes all the right noises)and basic scan of a single sheet is available through double click on printer icon.

Mulitiple scan i.e more than one sheet not possible and HP Director and Image Zone icons on desktop do not work.

PS - I agree, A printer is not an 'Application'. It belongs in 'Hardware, Components & Peripherals,' but this is a software issue, therefore posted in the right forum :)
