No Clue Which Threats :([RESOLVED]

I am so very exausted trying to figure this out. I had gotten some infections and gave up and FDisked just a few days ago. Everything seemed clean. My habits are not the best on the www as I love to do searches for graphic related materials, since that's 'My Thing'. I think in just these few days since FDisking, I have picked up this new junk in my puter. It's getting to the point of not having very much fun any longer with being online.
Anyhow, I did all the steps that you described with all the programs that you so kindly provided links for....I could not see one spec of difference till I ran the Ewido program. That seemed to do the best job...but I'm finding out that it's Blocking instead of deleting all of the threats. :tazz:

I have been going nuts trying to read others post that have similar problems. I have been downloading many of the programs that have been recommended and trying to follow instructions that have been posted for others.
I am this far with my problems....Could anyone please take a look and let me know how things are looking now? I know you are all so busy and I'm trying so hard to do as much as I can by myself.

Ok I've gone a little further with this after reading more posts. I kinda feel all alone on this :tazz: ...I really would appreciate it if someone could take a look at my logs so I could go ahead with my Windows Updates and also to be able to create a new System Restore Point that I know is clean.

Metallica: Thank you so much for responding. I've read so many of your posts that I feel like I know you. LOL It's been some time since I posted that last Hijack log and since then I was feeling good about things and decided that you guys were just so busy that I would be better off to go ahead and update with SP2 etc. for security reasons. I also have been to your web site that you so kindly posted here for me already. I have it bookmarked and use it for reference on any of my doubts or confusions.
There is just one thing that is still bothering me. I think I've got this thing so full of anti spy ware now that I've done something to make my msconfig show up each and every time I reboot. I mean that little screen where you put the check mark in it. I always check mark it and darn if it's not there again after I boot the next time. I keep wondering if it might have something to do with some setting that I may have implemented in one of the anti spyware programs that has to do with windows messenger. I may be in left field on that one, but I just hate that thing and each time I read something about how to keep it from showing up I try it. It still shows up and so does that msconfig screen! LOL.......Got any idea's? :tazz:

Hi Chicy,

If you run HijackThis you will see a entry like this:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfigReminder] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSconfig.exe /reminder
or this

If you fix that, the reminder will not return when you reboot.
When in doubt don't hesitate to post so I can point it out for you.

Hi Again.....Something Wacky is going on Metallica. I ran HijackThis, Found:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

Clicked on FIX.....Rebooted. The screen came back up so I ran HijackThis again and again and again.....each time selecting FIX and that line always comes back as if I never deleted it.
I'm starting to wander if I have so much antispy ware running that it won't even let Hijack This change things now! LOL :tazz:

Grrrrrrrr.....I ran CWShredder and it found CWSMsConfig
I clicked to fix it and then ran it again and it's still there.....
I ran HijackThis again and found the msconfig line again...clicked to fix it and it's still there too.
Looks like I've got CoolWebSerchbar going on and something is blocking all my antispyware from fixing it

AdWatch is set to Automatic I presume?

To disable AdWatch:

Open AdAware SE.
Go to AdWatch User Interface.
Go to Tools and Preferences.
At the bottom of the screen you will see 2 options Active and Automatic.
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it.
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically.
Uncheck both options. You can enable these after resolving your problem.

Best disable SpywareGuard as well. I would not recommend running them both anyway. They practically do the same job and when it comes down to bussiness, they might conflict and you end up getting infected anyway.

Then try again.

And if CWShredder finds something and you are not experiencing anything, disregard it.
CWShredder should only be used to fix a found problem, not to sacn with.

Oh My Metallica I fell asleep while we were doing this and woke up with my head on the computer table around noon today! hahaha.......It was around 5 or 6am here on your last post and I had not been to bed!
Anyhow Your da Bomb! IT's all fixed!! YEAH!! for 5 minutes anyhow till I pick up something else on the www! Also guess what I found......I found that I had Startup Locked in my Adware program! That is why nothing would change when I booted. Since I removed that, I was even able to put a stop to that silly Windows Messenger to load on start up too! I disabled Ad Watch and SpywareGuard and that let me delete the unstoppable line

as you instructed.

I decided to just uninstall SpywareGuard since you said that Adaware did the same thing. I ran CWShredder and it found nothing after I had Hijack this delete the MSConfig line. I have reinabled my AdWatch now and everything feels 'Right'! Would you suggest turning off System Restore and then turn it back on and creating a clean restore point at this time to get rid of all this past confusion?

Oh and I also Deleted this line with HiJackThis:

I didn't like the (no name) with the (file Missing).....Hope I didn't do anything wrong???? LOL I can always restore it if I did, let me know. LOL

Another question that I have is why is there 2 AdWatch lines in my StartUp? Maybe one is for Adaware and the other is for Adwatch? I just thought that was strange. Let me know if you think that is Ok or not Please.

I do have to say that I can feel a bit of drag on my resources...Like something is tugging at my Ram and that is strange. When I copy and paste it is taking some time for the pasted results to show up also. Do ya think I still have too much running or something? I went a bit crazy with anti spyware programs when all of this happened. LOL Shoot I was even thinking about purchasing the Ewido program! Would that be too much to run along with my Adaware and Norton? Oh and speaking about the Ewido program, why can't I delete the remains of the folder that the trial program was in that is located in my Program Files? I'm a bit Anal about organization and that drives me nuts. LOL

Let me see:

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)

That file does not have to be missing for HijackThis to report it as such. I imagine you will find the file in C:\WINDOWS\bdoscandel.exe
Windows know it will find it there from "%windir%"
HijackThis does not understand that and says it can't find the file.
But if you never missed the button in IE, there isn't much need to restore it, I'd say.

AdWatch starts from HKLM which means for all user accounts and from HKCU (Current User) so for neatness sake you can eliminate one.
Which one depends on for whom you want it to start. For all accounts leave HKLM.
Only for your account, leave HKCU

I recommend everyone to run a AntiTrojan beside their AntiVirus and AntiSpyware and Ewido has made huge progress the last months from what I have heard.
I have never tried it myself since I already own two other AntiTrojan programs, so don't trust me on that one. :tazz:
Have you tried deleting the folder in safe mode ?

Make that a chocolate cake and I'll drop by some day.

was something that was meant to be there huh? I won't fool with resorting it if you don't think it was anything really needed. I hate icons on my desktop and I hate any extra buttons on my Browser. As I said I am a bit Anal about organization to say the least! LOL

Ok so since you said that the AdWatch HKLM means for ALL Users then that is the one I left. Why would anyone want it to be just for the current user? Maybe I'm missing something here but that's what I did.

Yep it worked on deleting the Ewido folder in Safe Mode. I might have figured that one out myself but I would have spent hours on the Internet reading things before I did because I always worry that things are sharing certain files that should not be deleted.

May I ask you what AntiTrojan Programs you keep running along with your AntiVirus Programs? I mean you sure have more experience with all this stuff than I do and what you use would work for me! LOL
At this point I have Norton 2005 Antivirus, SpyBot, and AdAware running.

IS THERE ANYTHING OTHER THAN CHOCOLATE FOR A CAKE?!! :tazz:

I just remembered that I am not only running Norton2005, Adaware Pro,Spybot but I am also still running SpywareBlaster. I had thought that I saw that you had recommended running it on your web site. Should I Keep it up and running along with the others or delete it too like I did Spyware Guard? :tazz:

The AT I have always running is BoClean: http://www.nsclean.com/boclean.html

I also have TDS3 http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/
because BoClean does not scan files.

Please do have a look at my site about removing and preventing spyware.
