Greetings…I’m having a serious issue with my Dell Dimension 4400, windows XP PC. I logged this afternoon to my PC. My computer will not boot up,I get a black screen with an error that says "isass.exe – System error (object name not found). I cannot get to Safe Mode either. I get to the menu for Safe Mode, but then when I click Safe Mode, before the screen shows up I get the exact same error and the pc reboots. When trying to start with the last known configuration…I get the same error. I tried to repair windows with my OS disk, but again, got the same error except now, after the windows boot up bar I get a screen that says setup is being started and then I get the Isass.exe error. Please note that the week prior to the error message, I was getting a message reading, “your PC is running low in vitual memory”. Your help with this matter is much appreciated. I start school next month and need my PC working again. I can’t afford a new PC at this time. Thank you!!

If the first letter is "i", your computer is infected.

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Simply state in your first post, that your computer is not bootable, so you can't run any scans.
Malware guys have tools to access your computer in that situation.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
