Hi, first off sorry if I posted this in the wrong area I'm new to doing forums, but have read a lot while Googling for ways to fix my problem.

I've done a repair before on the same laptop using a Windows Recovery CD and it worked fine up to now. Recently I scanned the laptop (my mom's) using Microsoft Security Essentials, Super AntiSpyware, and Spybot Search and Destroy. After deleting three trojans and some adware I proceeded to do a disc check to fix any problems that existed. After restarting everything was working fine, but stupid me decided to start tinkering with msconfig and the startup options to attempt to speed up the startup time. I kept everything except for the startup items the same, which I only booted 3 things (bad decision I know) which were the virus protection applications. Oh and meanwhile before I restarted I went into my task manager and ended two tasks: wualt and svchost (another bad decision). After restarting it was faster but of course now I'm facing multiple problems on this computer. Mainly which is the inability to get onto the internet Config/Connectivity Doctor just pops up empty.

Thanks to all for bearing with me and reading this long question haha.

*I've already tried installing XP over the current version, hardy har I realized for some reason System Restore was off so no help there...

After deleting three trojans and some adware

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
