Bandwidth drained by Windows Live Messenger

Hi

Since yesterday whenever I log into hotmail (only) via Windows Live, my bandwidth rockets from it's normal for d/l and u/l. I proceeded to stop progs 1 by 1 until I found the culprit ie Win Live.

I have 1meg up and down bandwidth but when it goes haywire it exceeds my normal limits for both.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Win Live but the same thing happens when I log into my mail.

Can you possibly help?
