I guess I made an error on my last post. I "bumped" my opwn topic with updates as to what I had done to try and fix it and that it was getting worse. I later read that I should not do that. So I am starting this new thread in the hopes that Help may arrive sooner.

I am currently running spyware blaster 3.4, Ad-Aware SE Pro, Spybot SD 1.3, webroot spy sweeper, Norton internet security 2005 and Norton System works 2005.

I have Xp home sp2, suns java, and mozilla firefox.

I update and scan regularly with all, however I have been nailed again. This time it is the above programs, in addition I also keep getting a blank IE browser page that says ads1.revenue.net. plus a dialer(hijacker) called click this that asks me if I want to spend 2.99 a minute to connect to an un-named number.

I have added spy subtract pro with cwshredder.

Now my system keeps shutting down for no apparent reason.

I also added Trojan Hunter 4 and registryfix pro.

All say they have taken care of the problem but it is still there.

Hi Babar, let's get this fixed now.

Some of these dialers are notorious. Does it have an X button on the upper right corner? I suggest clicking on that instead to exit it. Better yet, don't go online at all when this happens. At least exit that dialer first before connecting online.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download ETRemover and unzip it. Don't run it yet.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. You may use Panda ActiveScan also at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Limewire and Ares - I don't recommend using these P2P programs at all since they may help contribute to these problems and more.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

I have the done the following as you have asked:

downloaded etremover unzipped but not run,

I tried scanning with trendmicro, it found one trojan but needed a number to fix it, when I followed the instructions to get the number the program froze, so,

I used pandasoftware, it found the same trojan buit said it could not remove it.

I then upgraded my norton I S 2005 and did a full scan it detected three things including the trojan located by the above, it says they were deleted.

I ran Hijackthis and deleted the four lines you indicated.

I rebooted into safe mode and found the

C:\windows\system32\elitetfj32.exe I deleted it.

I could not find C:\WINDOWS\system32\canada.exe.

I did found C:\windows\prefetch\canada.exe-22f3c875.p it is a 20kb pf file.

I did not delete it yet as I wanted to run it by you first. when I get your reply I will do whatever you want me to with it.

Do you recommend using any P2P programs? I find that limewire is the cleanest of any I have used. I will get rid of Ares though as I haven't used it since I got limewire Pro.

You may empty the whole prefetch folder in this case.

No. I don't recommend using any P2P programs at all. But if you must use one, I suggest Ares over Limewire. With Ares, you can choose to not install their spyware program. But like I said, I still don't recommend using any of these since they may contribute to these problems and much more.

OK, once you are done, restart and post a new HijackThis log. Make sure you ran ETRemover.exe in safe mode.

After reboot from safe mode the system was very slow in starting.

Not exactly sure, but I saw some links regarding the bad things from Limewire. Should have bookmarked that site down for reference purposes. It's your choice, use what you want. I say remove both, but that's just me.

That will just disable programs (and not remove them) do don't worry. Restart and see if the speed improved.

Your log is clean.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

Thank-you for your help things seem better now. The pop ups are gone as is the click this dialer that was haunting me. since your last post my system has sped up again.

I ran the following this morning and all came up clean:

Spysubtract Pro 3.0 with CWShredder.

Ad-Aware Se Pro 1.05.

Spybot S&D 1.3.

RegistryFix 3.0.

TrojanHunter 4.2.

I do have something called powerbar remaining, I don't know if it is spyware or part of one of my programs but from experience I have cmoe to be suspicious of anything ending in the word 'Bar'.

Also I have SpywareBlaster 3.4 and am having a problem. Everytime I open the program it tells me that 211 items in my restricted sites protection are unprotected. I enable all protection and it says everything is protected but when I open it up again it shows the 211 unprotected again. very frustrating. PowerBar is part of CyberLink's PowerDVD program. I assume you have that installed right?

For SpywareBlaster, try disabling all protection. Uninstall it. Restart and reinstall it. Check for updates and Enable All Protection again. See if that problem is still there now.

Also did you use the Immunize feature in Spybot? That will work similarly to what SpywareBlaster does. Having both updated will provide maximum protection against bad ActiveX controls.

ok, yes I do have powerDVD installed that makes sense now.

I tried what you said with spyware blaster. it seems to have done the trick.

I do use the immunize feature in spybot along with spywareblaster and together they have for the most part been successfull in protecting me. (It's only when I do something dumb that I have a problem.)
