Terribly slow computer

Computer is running terribly slow. From the desktop loading, to running programs, to the internet. Everything is super slow. The hard drive is going crazy with the flashing light in front of the computer case, and i won't even be touching the computer, non stop.

I have xp,sp3, p4, 512ram.

I've ran norton, mcafee, drweb, malwarebytes, superantispyware,microsoft essentials, avira, and i don't pick up anything..horribly slow. inside of pc case is clean, i've defragged, disk cleanup, ran ccleaner, and nothing has changed.

If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated
