Did you run the 'cmd' prompt "as administrator"?

Click the Start orb, type in "cmd" (without the quotes) and you'll see "cmd.exe" appear at the top. Right-click it, (the "cmd.exe") and select "Run As Administrator".

Now try the commands you were using before ...

Sorry but I'm not sure what "i want to be able to access with a key before windows starts" means. Hopefully someone with a clue will drop in here shortly.

what i mean is that i just want to press a key to access the recovery partition
i want to be able to use a key for example f9

right now i have to:
mark the partition as active to use the recovery to reinstall windows if needed

i want to:
just press a key like f9 or f10 etc... to access the recovery partition

Sounds like something that would need to be designed (programmed) into the BIOS.

edit:if you dont know how can you make it a choose between windows 7 and the setup files (almost like 2 operating systems but 1 is recovery partition i made)
