Help! Windows/system32/config/system missing or corrupt and i have

Ok guys, i really need your help here.
As the title says. I have a HP (pretty old) XP computer and i am getting the error messsage (title) every time i load up my computer.
It will keep restarting and restarting and i do not have a windows xp cd.
What do i do?
ANY help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Standardman,

The bootup message means you have a corrupt Windows registry.
Some instructions at Microsoft ... but not for the faint-hearted !

Does the computer have a floppy drive ?
You need some way to access the Recovery Console, so that can be done with a XP CD, or download the console onto 6 floppy disks.

There is also the possibilty to install the console onto a bootable USB key (if your computer supports booting from USB)
