So I've broken out the old Laptop to be my test system so I dont screw this one up. But the reason I retired it was such, the system heated up so much that the wireless card from broadcom would constantly have issues & it was even on recall for that reason. Apparently 9 repairs WASNT enough to fix it for good. I got tired of it & bought a USB wireless-N adapter, but we all know those lack in range. I have a spare laptop wifi card from a gateway laptop of that year, it fits perfectly into the 2nd slot next to the orig wifi adapter, question is...will using another companies wifi card work with a completely different laptop.

I believe its Aerethos or something of the sorts, the orig being broadcom.

Old Laptop : HP Dv6449us
Wifi card: From a Gateway NV5468u
