Registry Mechanic popup messages

I keep getting popups (on my Dell desktop with XP) telling me that “An upgrade for Registry Mechanic is available.” I have never used Registry Mechanic and have been ignoring the messages.

1. Registry Mechanic is a commercial, for price, program, right?
2. Can I safely ignore the popups?
3. How can I eliminate the popups?

Thanks.

Registry tools are not recommended and here is why: http://miekiemoes.bl...weaking_13.html

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.micro...s/bb963902.aspx
No installation required.
Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.
Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Attach the file to your next reply.

Hmmm....do you read all replies to your question, like my reply #2, for instance?

Broni: I think you are referring to your post of Aug. 23, begining with "Registry tools are not recommended and here is why: http://miekiemoes.bl...weaking_13.html", righ?

I hadn't thought to add the Auturun program; didn't think I needed it; just wanted to kill the RegistryMechanic popups. But If I do need to load that Autorun program I will do so. I assume that once I do that, it will be apparent what the autorun log is (that you have asked for).

Appreciate your help and patience. ... Batpark

In post 2 Broni asked you to download and install the program. Once you do what he requests in that post (upload the file to us), we can tell you what to do to stop the pogram from loading.
Autoruns is a program we use to look at startups on computers.

Post 3 gives you the steps to
Run the program
Then save the log

Then you just attach the saved log to your response.

Ok first lets get rid of the issue at hand. Then Broni can go further with your Autoruns as there is a lot :) there that can be removed.

Open Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab, and UN-check:

+ "RegistryMechanic" "Registry Mechanic 9.0" "PC Tools" "c:\program files\registry mechanic\regmech.exe"

When done restart computer and then:

Does the pop up happen when this is done?
