I am wanting to try and upgrade our computers at my work at a market research call center that are running Windows 98 se to Windows XP. The only problem is our main program for collecting the data and time for employees is a MS-DOS program. Is there a way to run our office on XP computers? we have a network of about 70 computers for calling and data collecting, with 4 for administrator office duties, 1 main server. It is hard to maintain so old of computers with such limiting RAM and hard drive space, lack of parts and there ability to function on the internet cause of out of date OS makes sending and receiving e-mail a frustrating task. Changing our program is not a option at the time, would just like to run on XP. Thanks for any help on this issue.

If you have access to an XP machine, then install said program onto XP and play with it for a while. The vast majority of legacy software does work in XP, but you are right to consider migrating all those legacy systems, because they won't last forever.

I've had some luck using DOSBox - http://www.dosbox.com/
It's meant for games but I got it to run a cobwebby old DOS for a business friend.
Another alternative is the older Virtual PC for XP. Not so good for games and a little more complicated to setup, but it does run some 95 and 98 stuff that won't run under XP otherwise. I seem to recall running a DOS app or two under it as well. the 2007 version is only for XPPro and XPPro64 though.
