USB Device Not recognized

I had not used my laptop in 3 months, when i came back I tried plugging in my webcam and what came up was that the USB Dev ice was not recognized, I thought all i had to do was to reinstall the software so I unistalled the software for the webcam and installed it again, but the problem is the same, every time i plug it in it says USB Device not recognized, I have windows 7..What can I do?

Just a question,

You say you uninstalled and reinstalled the software by that do you mean the drivers or is it only the software, on some webcam models the software installation option does not include the drivers those must be installed separately.

I checked the Cd and it says its the Driver Cd.I think the problem is with windows 7, it does not want to recognize the webcam,or i don't know, i am very confused

Uninstall the driver and the program that came with your webcam.

Make sure your webcam is not plug.

Shut down your computer

Unplug the power cord from the wall and remove your battery

press and hold the start button for 5 second

Put back the battery and plug it in the wall

Reinstall your driver and program for your webcam

when it asks you to plug your webcam in the usb port try to plug it in a different usb port then where it was before if you can.

Hopefully Windows 7 will now recognize your webcam.

May I ask if your webcam as ever worked on your computer with Windows 7 or is it the first time you are trying to install it.
