My HP Dx6000 will only start in the Safe mode with networking start up option.

I've tried:

Virus checks (doesn't appear to be a virus)
Windows Directory Services Restore Mode
System restore
MSCONFIG, unchecking everything
Last known good configuration
Tried CHKDSK.. it says system will check in 6 seconds but when the time runs out it never checks it.
Cannot get it to load "sfc scannow" either.

Does the cd drive not work in Safe mode ? I'm trying to run the recovery disks but they aren't playing (neither is any cd in the drive).

Any ideas ?

i would boot to a windows cd and using "R" for recovery console run "chkdsk /p/f" without the "" the P will forse it to run .
also your "sfc scannow" should look like this ,"sfc /scannow" needs the / forward slash to run

Any ideas ?
