My computer freezes every 30 seconds or so for about 5 seconds at a time. When I pull up process explorer, when things freeze up CPU usage hits 100% and services.exe is eating up all the CPU, but I can't figure out which service it is.

I've run the latest Norton AV in safe mode as well as Malwarebytes with no effect. If I go into msconfig and disable everything under the "services" tab, the computer runs fine but then I can't really do anything (like connect to the internet).

I'm at a loss here. I think if I could figure out which service had the problem and disable it I would be ok, but I can't seem to do that. I'm running windows xp on a panasonic toughbook CF-73.

Please, please help. It's very frustrating.

Which Anti Virus are you using?

In your post you say you runned Norton AV but if you check your RunningProcess and HijackThis logs we can see you have many AVG 9 entries.

It is not recommended to run two AV at the same time.

If you used to have AVG 9 but now you are running Norton it seems like AVG was not uninstalled properly.

Use the program AVG remover if you want to remove all entries of AVG
