Hi,

I recently reformatted the hard drive on this computer and installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro SP2 (1.5gb RAM, 3.2 ghz processor). I went to go plug in my Linksys wireless adapter (model no. WUSB54GC ver. 3) and it doesn't work regardless of which port I put it in. The LED in the side of the adapter does not light up. I have a USB mouse and keyboard that work in all of the ports, however.

The adapter does work in another PC with similar RAM/processor also running WinXP SP2.

Is it possible that the adapter is faster than than the USB ports allow? The computer is fairly old, I would estimate 5 years or so.

Any insight or solutions for this issue would be greatly appreciated and I can always provide more information if necessary. :)

Thanks,
Ramune

I solved it by uninstalling the USB controllers and then rebooting. I guess I should have tried a little harder! :)
