I moved recently. In the process some things seem to have happened to my ancient HP Pavilion a1412n.

The mouse - any mouse - doesn't do what it normally would do. I can't drag things from the desktop into folders, for example.

The mouse doesn't seem to always "connect" with the PC although the pointer will move. When this ancient PC goes to sleep I have a choice to awaken it to either "Administrator" or "Mike". I usually go directly to Administrator. The mouse will not activate the buttons on the screen. Using the "up" arrow and then hitting "Enter" works. This seems very odd to me.
