I have a new Toshiba 640 GB External Hard Drive that suddenly isn't accessible. The drive is recognized but when I try to access it windows tells me it needs to be formatted. Device manager says the device is working properly and the drivers are up to date. When I originally installed the drive, the icon for it was an image of the Toshiba drive, now it's Local Drive E:.
I've searched the net for solutions, but have been unable to fix the problem. Anybody have any suggestions other than reformatting the drive? I really don't want to lose the information stored on it.
