My father in law gave me a Gateway 450SX4 laptop that Gateway shows as having a 40GB IDE drive. I was wondering if there were any SSDs I could use in this laptop. My understanding is that you can slap a SSD in anything and it would work but I want to check before I buy the drive.

Here is the manual for the Laptop and here are the tech specs on the currently installed HDD.

I was looking at this SSD from NewEgg.

Thanks!

as long as the interface is correct an SSD "acts" exactly like any other drive as far as the PC is concerned
