task bar& start button not accessible

i removed some virus using avira antivir personal yesterday.on starting the system today i all i can see is the wallpaper.the start button & the task bar were not accessible. io tried using the window task manager to access places as control panel, my computer but it wouldn't work. programs such as Microsoft office & other installed programs could open trough the task menu.Please what can i do i need to us e my computer urgently.
