Hi, I have a problem each time I boot up with XP ( I have a dell by the way ), here it is;

Initializing Intel ® Boot Agent GE v1.2.50
PXE-E05: The LAN adaptor's configuration is corrupted or has not been initialized. The Boot Agent cannot continue.

Also, what happened was that I had a malware removal advice, EssexBoy helped me fix and clean it all, but I had the problem, and I asked him, maybe you could help, but he said where at the edge of his system knowledge. Here is the link (Page 6) http://www.geekstogo...s/page__st__75.

Thanks,

Changing Boot Sequence for Future Boots

1. Enter system setup.

2. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Boot Sequence menu option and press <Enter> to access the pop up menu.

NOTE: Write down your current boot sequence in case you want to restore it.

3. Press the up- and down-arrow keys to move through the list of devices.

4. Press the spacebar to enable or disable a device (enabled devices have a checkmark).

5. Press plus (+) or minus (–) to move a selected device up or down the list.

Simply disable PXE as shown above. If it can't be disabled, make sure the hard disk is the first boot device.

2. (Ticked) Integrated NIC
3. (Ticked) IDE CD DEVICE
4. (Ticked, I think) Floppy Disk, not installed)

Move lan to the bottom of the list and untick it.
Also untick floppy because you state you do not have it.

So if you leave it, does it eventually boot into Windows or it doesn't boot at all and you are using another computer to log this thread?

EDIT: Basically what you want is the following:

1. (Ticked) IDE CD Device
2. (Ticked) Hard Drive C:\
3. (Not ticked) Floppy
4. (Not ticked) Integrated NIC LAN PXE boot whatever

EDIT 2: Please post full make/model of your PC, cheers

If you cannot disable the option to boot off the LAN (by unticking it, usually Shift+1 or Shift+F1 disables/enables items in that list but possibly not on your particular computer), and if having it at the very bottom of the list still does not fix it, then I am wondering if updating the BIOS may fix the corrupt error message.

If it is at the bottom of the list then it should not even get there as it should find XP installed on your hard drive (which is listed higher than the LAN) and therefore boot off that... it's a bit weird.

Again, make/model (exact) and we'll see what the latest BIOS is.

Cheers

I think the problem happened after EssexBoy told me to run ComboFix.

Haha I've said Cheers twice now, perhaps I'll adjust it to "communication over" for end of each thread :)

Confirm it is SX270 and not SX270N please.

Seems like this is it:
http://support.dell....1&fileid=113073

Or best bet to confirm would be to hit up the Dell support site, Download Drivers, and then enter your Service Tag - that will take you straight to the exact drivers you need. Then expand BIOS section and download/run.

Cheers (haha I said it again)
