I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but it seems most appropriate for this post.

I downloaded version 11.0.1.400 about a week ago. Computer (HP Pavilion a1540n) was running fine, then began to slow down a few days ago. I am running Windows XP Media Center edition with most of the bloatware removed or disabled, and unitl the last few days, the computer has been running fine.

Yesterday, I hit what I thought was the Turn Off computer button, but it was the Standby button. When I came back home, I discovered this, and tried to get the computer out of standby mode. When I hit a key, the monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 750s) went black. There is no problem with monitor (I checked it on another computer). No matter what I try, I cannot get the computer to display--I have powered off several times. I have disconnected and reconnected cables. I have shut off the surge protector/power pack. NOothing changes.

I can think of only two possible reasons for this sudden change: either Kaspersky OR Spyware Blaster. I am not sure whether I uninstalled Spyware Blaster yesterday (and therefore had not powered off the computer and restarted it) or a previous day.

I don't know how to fix this or how to even check anything as I don't have a screen.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Update: Well, I knew this could happen. Leave the computer off, do a lot of internet searching and questioning, start the computer again, and it WORKS!

BUT--I still want to know why this happened because there's no reason to think it won't happen again. AND, I did not do anything this time that I didn't do yesterday. It just decided to work today.
