The Punisher crashing

As soon as I run the punisher game for pc it crashes and the message I receive is:"Pun.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.We are sorry for the inconvinience."This is my favorite game so I would appreciate your help very much.I think that the problem is the DirectX.I have DirectX9 and it requires DirectX8.2 i think.

you may have better results getting a reply if you post this topic in the games forum ...
one quick question...did the game ever work on this computer before...if yes...try system restore...go back a week prior to the problem starting
