just a quick question i have a external drive that uses a ESATA express card. the system .... well i think windows is going senile one me. although write caching is enabled on the drive it isn't registered in the safely remove hardware dialogue box. I found that going into the device manager and disabling the disk drive will unmount the volume and park the drive in a similar fassion to clicking the stop device button. but i am not sure wether or not this is safe to do.
