Hey Guys,

I have uploaded a .pdf file to my host server via filezilla to a PDF file I created in the "public_html" directory (public_html/PDF).

The upload went smoothly. The only problem is this:

I don't know how to create a link that I can put into my Aweber emails to allow my subscribers to download the PDF report that I uploaded.

I (obviously) am new at this. I know how to upload via ftp client but have no experience creating links that I can give to my customers so they can download the PDF files I want to send them via emails.

Thanks in advance for any examples that will cure this problem for me.

To do that, given person would have to have an access to your server through FTP, which means giving out your username and a password.
Surely, you don't want to do that.
Why not to upload the file to some file hosting site, like:

http://uploadmb.com/
http://www.filedropper.com/
http://www.filesavr.com/

Hey, sorry about not being able to get to you with an answer. Been waiting for cableone to install my Internet service for over a week now. File hosting as already suggested is a good idea and I use SendSpace a lot as you can have the download link sent to the person's email address and one sent to you. It's slow for the upload on a free account because they throttle back on the speed.

As for providing a download link, you'll need to zip the pdf file just like you would have to do on a web page to keep the browser from possibly opening the pdf file if it has a known PDF Reader program associated with that file type. Most people do have the Adobe Reader which will open a pdf file in the browser's window. A *.zip file will trigger the download action for most browsers. An email link would have to have your file hosted on your own web server with the full URL to it and also still in zip format.

As for FTP download, you can use your anonymous FTP and not the one that you access for your server. The anonymous one allows people to browse and download whatever you have in it by using their browser and the anonymous FTP address..

It seems you have a website, another thing you could do is put it inside a zip folder and then upload it to the website, and have a link from there. Hope this helps.
