Every time I click to play my Dr. Who adventure games THIS pops up

"The Program cannot start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling to fix this problem."

Well I have, 8 times, and I've taken the whole thing off my computer and downloaded and installed it again TWICE. That's like 4 hours of my life wasted. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
