Hello Gurus:

I am trying to figure out how to remove this malware/virus/whatever.

I'm getting what I'm sure to you all is the familiar "YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED!" message in big, bold RED letters, followed by:

* System has been stopped due to a serious malfunction. Spyware activitiy has been detected.

There's a little more, but it's just worthless stuff. Anyway, all of this is in a BIG, black box right in the center of the desktop.

I have tried running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (more than once), and it finds Antivirus 2010 as the culprit. HOWEVER, when I repair it and try to reboot the PC, I get the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

The only way I am able to get the PC back up is to boot under the "Last Known Good Configuration" option, which basically revives the malware/virus.

Any assistance/advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Hi

Welcome to Geekstogo. I'll be helping you with this problem.

  • Please read all of my response through at least once before attempting to follow the procedures described. I would recommend printing them out, if you can, as you can check off each step as you complete it. If there's anything you don't understand or isn't totally clear, please come back to me for clarification.

  • Please do not attach any log files to your replies unless I specifically ask you. Instead please copy and paste so as to include the log in your reply. You can do this in separate posts if it's easier for you
»You may find it useful to print out the following procedure so thst you csn refer to it..«
  • Please download these two files to your desktop:
  • Extract the contents of TDSSKiller to your desktop.
  • Double click the OTH file and select Kill All Processes, your desktop will go blank. (You may need to restart the system and quickly start OTH as soon as the desktop becomes visible.)

  • Then select Start Misc Program - a browse window will open.
  • Navigate to your desktop and start: TDSSKiller

  • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue.

  • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.

  • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now.

  • If no reboot is require, click on Report. A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
  • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
