At this point, I'm not sure what to tell you.
My only explanation would be, that your computer was designed for Vista and now being with Windows 7 it doesn't want to take Vista, or 7 chipset driver.
Reading on the net, some reports, that your error "gfxui has stopped working" may be connected to some .NET Framework corruption.
Go to "Programs & Features" in Control Panel and uninstall all .NET Framework version listed there.
See, if it helps.
Eventually, you can reinstall them.
