I get this message everytime I go into HJT log and delete the w-find.com line.

funny thing is, my chosen homepage is about:blank and not w-find.com

went into safe mode and removed the file "service" from Windows/System32 since it had four malware files in it.

also removed the quarantined spyware file from MS AS also in safe mode.

just finished Panda ActiveScan again, and the last remaining piece of this mess is still hiding in my registry:

I actually fixed that problem by removing about:blank from the list of unacceptable homepages. no longer a problem

the only two pieces left of this mess are

(1) Norton AutoProtect still won't enable but through research it looks like uninstall and reinstall is the only way to gain back the missing ccApp

and

(2) Adsmart is still in my registry and I've been researching all over the place a good way to remove it.

• Unzip the contents of RegSrch.zip to a convenient location.
• Double-click on RegSrch.vbs.
• If you have an anti-virus installed it might prompt you about a running script. Please ignore this warning and allow the script to run.
• In the "Enter search string (case insensitive) and click OK..." box paste this string:
  • adsmart
• Click "OK" to search the registry for that string.
• Wait for a few minutes while it completes the search.
• Click "OK" to open the results in WordPad.
• Copy and paste the entire results into your next post.

However, Panda ActiveScan still reports it. hmmmm.

Done. Then I did another search with RegSrch and it found no instances of that file.

However, I then ran Panda ActiveScan again and it found "IGuard" in the registry this time.

RegSrch finds no "IGuard"

after I performed that Registry fix above, that was the first time Panda ActiveScan ever picked up IGuard. Each time before, it was always Adsmart. I listed the registry log because I found that program on another thread while doing research on Adsmart in your registry.

Well. It's looking for a needle in a haystack.

Your computer is clean. You can consider using a registry cleaner if it bugs you.
Make sure to use one that makes backups.
Reinstalling NAV should be your first priority however.
