What to do when word crashes - lost all my work!

I was doing my Georgraphy coursework when windows stopped working, It came up with do you want to find a solution to the problem and i didnt know what to do so i clicked yes and then it said do you want to send the infomation to windows so i clicked yes as i thought that would restore my windows. Now ALL my coursework on my memory stick has gone and i dont know what to do!! PLEASE HELP
