my iPod is recognised by my computer but not on itunes and now my disconnected iPod displays as if I have no files on it (no music/videos); it worked in the past and I have ran a diagnostic on it and all tests are fine except the 'sync test' which reveals 'no ipod detected'.

I have both a laptop and tower computer and have used my iPod on both in the past; while connecting the iPod to the computer today, a dialog appeared stating some error with my iPod and that I could 'scan and fix' the problem or another option that I can't remember, but seemed to imply a deeper fix. I chose the 2nd option, but cancelled it as it seemed to take too long and since then itunes is not recognising the ipod on either computer. I have gone through all the steps listed on the apple support site to the letter (reinstalling itunes, starting and stopping the apple service, running diagnostics etc, but to no avail).

my itune libraries on both computers are still intact, but I can't sync my ipod. The diagnostic test reveals the following report:

Thanks for your reply, but I had already tried that and it didn't work. I have fixed the problem now by REFORMATTING my ipod, following the steps on the following link:

http://www.methodsho...dsupport/erase/

It was a last resort and it worked, thankfully my laptop had my entire library stored; You should try other steps 1st and make sure you have your library backed up somewhere because it wipes your ipod clean.
