Hey what type of Protection would firefox offer?

It says nothing (from what I seen) in the website apart from it is suggested to use it to help prevent spyware or something like that.

It offers no protection. It does have an advantage in that most of the malicious perpetrators of malware/trojans/virus etc concentrate on IE because of its well known vulnerability. If you choose to use Firefox (as I do) you still need a good av and firewall.
