Hello - I am running Linux Ubuntu 10.04 and I currently have this computer and another Windows 7 PC connected together in the same workgroup. When I look at the Network on the Ubuntu File Browser, I can see the windows 7 pc there, but when I try to open it, I get the message Password Required - it wants a username, password and domain (the domain box is filled in with the workgroup name). Whatever set of credentials I try to input, the box just pops up again asking for password. Password protected sharing is disabled on the windows 7 pc and I have even tried disabling Windows firewall to no effect. I am very new to Ubuntu and Linux and am therefore completely stuck - what I really want is to access a shared printer connected to the Windows 7 pc from the Linux machine.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks

Does the account you are trying to connect to password protected?

Hi Tuxmaster,

Yes, the Windows 7 Professional Computer has an user account which is password protected, but under the sharing settings, password protected sharing is disabled. also, I have found that the Linux PC will connect to a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop fine using one of that laptop's user accounts, it just will not access the Professional Machine? Could it be Windows 7 Professional??

Thanks for the help!

I have exactly the same problem, only running Win 7 Ultimate.
The Win 7 account is not password protected.
I tried to access a shared printer and also to access a shared disk on the Win 7 PC.

Any help will be greatly appreciated
