Just starting a project to assist in researching a problem wiht a friend's computer. This information that I have is that a few days ago on boot up her computer screen went black for a noticeable time (10 - 15 seconds) an then as the desktop fills in a window opens with the following information:

"Missing shortcut - searching for DTSC.EXE" This has the flashlight icon options for browse and cancel.

after doing nothing fof 30 - 60 seconds the pop up window goes away and internet explorer is opened and a website (all german text) is displayed.

after closing the explorer window all operations seem normal.

This cycle is repeted on each power up or restart of the computer.

No problem. I did some searching in the meantime.
Does that computer have/had IOMEGA backup installed?

That will have to be reinstalled to get rid of the error.

I could find no other solution.

Thanks.

I also had her do a scan of running processes and she reported seeing
leinvanderkelder.exe
this looks suspect to me..
