Network keeps disconnecting *Wireless*

Hey currently running windows xp on an older IBM Think pad looked in my system message for errors as I keep getting disconnected periodically from my wireless network and here is the message that pops up quite a bit

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 00166F922213. The following error occurred:
The operation was canceled by the user. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
