Oh its a totally legit copy, it just kept freezing when i tried to repair the installation, i upgraded from 98 to XP after installation and its working a dream.

Pleased it is sorted.
The only reason I asked the question re the XP CD, is because this forum will not help with non-genuine installations, including of course copies of genuine software. These are a frequent cause of installation failures.
