Hi

can anyone help - I have acquired an ADVENT 5431 laptop which for no apparent reason just decided it wouldnt switch on one morning having been put to bed perfectly happy the night before.

Symptoms

At switch on the 3 blue leds light as does the camera led. The fan kicks in a few seconds later - the screen remains black - no hard drive clicks and wurrs heard nor HDD led flicker. Nothing seems to happen then after about 30 - 40 seconds all lights go out and the above process repeats.

Have tried destall / install of following - BATTERY, BIOS batt, HDD, Memory and even reseated the processor but the above continues

This symptom has been reported on the ADVENT support forum but no advice seems to be available so any clues will be gratefully received and acknowledged

thanks in advance

How has the laptop been used? Have you used it on the bed, the sofa or some cushions or left it on anything that might block the vents on the bottom of the laptop?

Hi Neil

the only thing like that may have been the floor carpet - but didnt notice any over heat. Do you think it could be heat related ??
