How to use Voip with a KPN Thomson TG789 Experia box

Am I correct when I say that you currently have;
An analog phone line
Digital TV
Internet
(all from KPN)

This is all just to confirm before I can help any further.

I have a ASDL phone line coming into the house that splits, 1/2 to the Modem/router (DSL) and other 1/2 to an ISDN splitter. This splits 1/2 to ISDN phones and 1/2 to analog phones.
Yes a digital interactive TV signal which only works via the new Modem/router Experia box (made by Thomson but supplied by kpn).
and a internet connection.
Yes the telephone line is a kpn line and the digital TV is part of the kpn internet package.




So in summary it's a ASDL phone line and all three are provided by kpn.

Am I also correct when I say that you have 2 different packages? (Paying separately for Internet and Phoneline?)

As in Dutch to English translation?

No, I have had a phone and internet package for many years I just increase this package to include the TV signal so now I do NOT have any cable TV any more.
I was told that nothing changed with the internet line coming into my house just that the experia box can read the TV signal and send it out to the TV (and at the same time block the Voip connection)

If you have a "InternetPlusBellen" package, you should be able to connect to that.

I'll see what I can find out. But as far as I know, you shouldn't be using your SMC modem/router anymore. It should all go through the Experiabox.

Great, you have some Dutch connection.

I was told that the older Experia box made by Siemens does work but kpn switched to this new one that looks the same on the outside but it's made by Thomson.
I can log into the experia box and there's hundreds of things that can be changed and configure even voip and telephone settings but I have no idea where to start and was told it does not matter what I do the Voip signal is blocked.
I also have a "InternetPlusBellen" package which includes the interactive TV.

If you have a "InternetPlusBellen" package, you should be able to connect to that.

I'll see what I can find out. But as far as I know, you shouldn't be using your SMC modem/router anymore. It should all go through the Experiabox.

Yes this is true, When I use the SMC I have Voip but no TV, and when I crawl behind the computer and switch the cables to the Experia I have TV but no Voip.
So for now I am switching back and forth but it's getting old real fast.
That's why I'm asking if there is some way around this.

Hello grampics,

I suggest you contact the support team of the VoIP provider you are using. Im sure there must some problem with the configuration of your VoIP Phone.. I hope this information is helpful.
