My computer died last week (older XP). It wouldn't start at all, if I turn off the power and then turn on the power it comes on for 1-2 seconds (see light and hear it) then it goes completely dead again. Is this fixable or fried? How about my hard drive?

Hello jmazzu ...

Just going by your description, it sounds like a bad power supply. I don't suppose you have another power supply laying around that you could use to try and verify the problem?

Can you provide me with the specs on your machine? Make and model number (if a brand name machine) or let me know what hardware you have installed if it's a custom build. I'll see if I can point you in the right direction.
