I had trouble with the about:blank hijacker and followed instructions on removing it from another site. I haven't seen these directions posted anywhere else which leads me to believe it might have been the wrong way to "fix it". Please let me know if the following was a mistake. I opened the browser (the about blank page) and went to VIEW and then SOURCE. It gave me a long string of codes (sorry, I know very little about computers) and then I copied the string and pasted on a website that "cleans up" the code and it gave me the file name: llpf.dll. I then searched through my files and found it in the Windows System 32 file. I renamed it and rebooted. After that, I was able to change my homepage back and haven't seen any problems since then. This solution seems too easy......I'm suspicious. Was this a mistake? Thanks in advance.
