My girlfriend has a Compaq Presario 700Z, which is rated at 1.3Ghz, however i know that a friend of hers overclocked it to 1.4. I've always noticed it runs hot, and am having issues with it. I want to basically "reverse" what has been done. What ways could this laptop have been overclocked, and what methods do I use to reverse it?
Thanks,
mick

Hi mickyjtwin. Do you know what her friend did to overclock it? It was probably that he/she raised the FSB of the computer. Basically, if the processor is using a 10X multiplier, then you would have to set the FSB back to 133Mhz. BUT DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING YET. First, go into the BIOS (by pressing F1, F2 or whatever you have to to get into the BIOS) of the computer and check what the FSB speed is currently at, because if it is at 133Mhz its probably that he changed the multiplier. Post back what the FSB is currently at.
