Hi there,

I have display issues with my Vista Laptop and I have been advised by the Repair company that there is a fault with the LCD cable and hard drive and it would cost 650 GBP for replacement.Can somebody confirm if the cost quoted is accurate?

Hi coolstar :D sorry to hear you are having this issue.
Do you mean £650 for a new laptop or LCD ribbon and hard drive?
What is the make and model of the laptop and what issues are you
having with it that needs repairing?

Hi phillpower2,

Thanks for your prompt reply...it is a Sony Vaio FZ21M Vista.

The replacement of the LCD cable and hard drive cost quoted is 650 £.

Hard drive it seems has bad sectors and I have been having the display issues like red vertical lines after booting the computer,the display would become fluorescent green and pink.

I would also get blue error screen saying some hardware issue.

I sent it to repair center and have been saked to pay 650 £ for repairing/replacing (not sure) the LCD cable and hard drive..which looks a bit expensive!

Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks

I know its out of stock but £650 for a repair or £670 for a new one is what I am making you aware of;

Laptops are more difficult to repair than desktops but it doesn`t give some repair shops the right to rip people off.
There are guides available to show you how to replace both the hard drive and the ribbon if you require them.
The symptoms you describe do fit in with the repair centres diagnosis apart from the blue screen could also be a Ram or MB issue.
