Instead of showing me the image in the box this is what it is showing me a default picture in the place of the unique image. How do I fix this?

This only applies if all pictures come out like this. If some display properly then skip to the second stage.
Initially make sure that your computer is set to show thumbnail previews:

While in the (or any) folder
Press Alt.
Go to Tools
Go to folder options.
Click View.
Ensure that "Always Show Icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked.
Click OK.

If that doesn't work then you may have to clear the thumbnail cache.
Press the Start button.
Type Disk Cleanup
Click My Files Only
Select Vista (C:)
Wait a moment for it to finish scanning.
Check the box for "Thumbnails"
Make sure nothing is checked that shouldn't be. In particular ensure that Hibernation File Cleaner Is NOT checked.
Click OK to Start it cleaning.
