OK, go to Start->Run and type in msconfig and hit OK. Under that tab you are in now, click on Diagnostic Startup and restart your computer now. Can you boot into Normal Mode now without any problems? If you can, I want you to go back to msconfig and then to the Startup tab. Check back your antivirus (Panda or AVG - you need to which one to keep and uninstall one of them now) and firewall.

Post an update on any problems.

OMg for some reason the aurora pop ups just came back. The java icon appeared in the lower right hand corner and it said click for more option at java.com because i was starting live chat in geekstogo. When i click it a aurora pop up started. I thought they went away because i havent had one for like a month now. But i guess i was wrong.

OK, go into HijackThis->Config->Misc Tools->Open uninstall Manager and look for the ABI Network. Select it and click on the Delete button in HijackThis.

Give me a new HijackThis log.

I don't see Aurora here anymore, but let's continue with the fixes and see how things look.

Is that the only problem now?

For the error part, try reinstalling Symantec.

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\about.htm
O2 - BHO: QuickSearch Search Bar - {82315A18-6CFB-44a7-BDFD-90E36537C252} - C:\Program Files\QuickSearch\QuickSearchBar1_27.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: QuickSearch Search Bar - {82315A18-6CFB-44a7-BDFD-90E36537C252} - C:\Program Files\QuickSearch\QuickSearchBar1_27.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ogwwefep] C:\WINDOWS\system32\iktutoxr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AOL Messenger Optimized] AOLOpt.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [d043RUcEQ] deftopl.exe

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

c:\windows\system32\orrjri.exe
C:\Program Files\QuickSearch\
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iktutoxr.exe
AOLOpt.exe
deftopl.ex

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Give me this log also:

Right click on http://www.silentrun...ent Runners.vbs and choose Save As...Save it to your Desktop. Make sure you have disabled any programs that may block/disable scripts (ex: Ad-Watch, TeaTimer, Norton, etc.). Double click on 'Silent Runners' to run it. This will take a few minutes. It will create a file called 'Startup Programs' followed by your computer name and current date. Open up that file and post all the contents here in your next post.

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Spam Blocker - this is not a good program to have. Here's a free spam blocker minus the spyware. :tazz:

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Spam Blocker for Outlook Express] C:\PROGRA~1\SPAMBL~1\Bin\461~1.0\SBInst.exe

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\PROGRA~1\SPAMBL~1\

No need for a new log.

Your log is clean.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

Make sure to get the latest updates for Windows and Internet Explorer at http://v5.windowsupd...t.aspx?ln=en-us.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
