I have a Western digital Sata Hard Drive that I am trying to transfer data from for a client. I an using a bytec ide/sata adapter, I connected the sata drive to the sata port on the adapter, connected the usb connector to the pc and powered up the unit. The pc tells me that it has found a new device and is loading the drivers. Once it is completed however I cannot find the hard drive under "my computer".

I can find it under hardware in control panel but of course that will not give me a way to copy the files from the hard drive.

The machine is a dell dimension 4600i running windows xp (about to upgrade to windows 7)
