Hp pavillion n3310 password help

Ok i got a laptop @ a garage sale there's 1 problem when I turn it on it goes through the sys log then asks for a boot password,I dont have it and the seller didnt know.I tries f2 during start up and it also asks for a password any way around this or do i need to buy another hard drive?

You will need to clear the cmos (bios) to reset to defaults (no boot password). If you have the make and model of the laptop, you can probably find a manual for it at the manufacturers web page. That should tell you how to do it. Two ways I know of, remove the battery or use jumpers. The manual will tell the how and were of it.
