xp, things missing

Hope you can help me. When I type Regedit in Run, it says Windows cannot find it.
Have done a search, but found nothing.

no couldn't find regedit.exe, have also typed in regedit32 ,but it's not there also.

ok Lorna, if its missing you might want to try to put another copy of it back in the windows folder. Barring any other problems, like a virus that is eating up your files, it might work.

Do you have another computer with windows on it? Or can you get to one, say from a friend?

Ok lorna, if you do not have a mean virus causing this problem, the following might work. Theres actually 2 ways to obtain another regedt.exe.

One way is to extract the executable from your XP setup disk....

the other way is to go to the other computer and take a floppy with you. Put it in the other computer (make sure the floppy is formatted) and go to my computer, C:\ drive, and then to windows or to winnt folder if windows folder is not there. In the other computer im assuming regedit works? If it does, you will find the regedit.exe in that folder. Copy it to your floppy and install regedit back to your oother computer in the windows folder.
